About Expanded Orgasm

Expanded Orgasm, a termed coined by Dr. Patricia Taylor in 1990’s, is a sexual practice that emphasizes prolonged, full-body orgasms, often achieved through deliberate and focused touch. This practice has its roots in the late 1960s with the establishment of Lafayette Morehouse, an intentional community founded by Dr. Victor Baranco in Lafayette, California. Wikipedia+1Good Times+1

Origins and Philosophy
Dr. Victor Baranco, a former electronics entrepreneur, founded Lafayette Morehouse in 1968 as a social experiment in pleasurable group living. The community focused on various aspects of human interaction, including communication, relationships, and sensuality. One of their pioneering contributions was the exploration of female sexuality, particularly the significance of the clitoris in female orgasm. In 1976, the group gained attention for a public demonstration where a woman reportedly experienced a continuous orgasm for three hours, highlighting their research into prolonged sexual pleasure .

Techniques and Practices

Baranco developed a method known as “Deliberate Orgasm” (DOing), where a woman would undress from the waist down, and a partner would stimulate her clitoris with focused, consistent strokes. This practice aimed to enhance the woman’s pleasure without any expectation of reciprocation, fostering a space for deep sensual connection .

Building upon these foundations, Drs. Steve and Vera Bodansky introduced the concept of “Extended Massive Orgasm,” providing detailed techniques and training methods to achieve prolonged orgasms. Their work emphasized understanding the human nervous system, differentiating between sensuality and sexuality, and overcoming societal resistance to pleasure . Influence and Evolution

Dr. Patricia Taylor introduced the concept of “expanded orgasm” during her research on intense sensual experiences among 44 couples from diverse backgrounds.  She further explored this concept in her doctoral dissertation titled An Observational and Comparative Study of Practitioners of Expanded Orgasm: An Investigation of an Effective and Accessible Path to Transcendent States of Consciousness, which she submitted in 2000 to the International University of Professional Studies in Maui, Hawaii.  Her research indicated that both men and women could achieve these states, characterized by full-body sensations, emotional release, and altered consciousness. Taylor’s studies highlighted various methods to attain expanded orgasms, including manual stimulation, penetration, and oral sex, often incorporating tantric breathing techniques to balance the nervous system. In 2001, Dr. Taylor published a book titled Expanded Orgasm: Soar to Ecstasy at Your Lover’s Every Touch, offering practical guidance on achieving this form of orgasm.

Contemporary Perspectives

The practices developed at Lafayette Morehouse have since then influenced various groups and individuals. Notably, Nicole Daedone, the founder of OneTaste, who drew directly from the philosophy, techniques, and ethos of Baranco’s work, particularly around the practice of Deliberate Orgasm (DO). Nicole Daedone’s “stroker” and mentor was Ray Vetterlein. Vetterlein, also a part of the Morehouse community who  had been practicing and teaching this method since the 1960s and continued until his passing 2010 at the age of 88. He played a pivotal role in guiding Daedone as she developed OM into a structured practice and philosophy, which eventually led to the founding of OneTaste where she adapted these techniques into what she termed “Orgasmic Meditation” (OM).

Unlike the Expanded Orgasm taught by both Steve and Vera Bodansky and Patricia Taylor that redefined Orgasm as prolonged state of of sexual pleasure that might last several hours, OM involved a 15-minute clitoral stroking session, aiming to create a meditative and connected experience between partners. Daedone’s approach brought these practices into more mainstream awareness, though not without controversy.  Nicole Daedone, co‑founder of OneTaste, was convicted on June 9, 2025, in federal court in Brooklyn (Eastern District of New York) on conspiracy to commit forced labor charges. A jury found that she and Rachel Cherwitz coerced employees into grueling work and sexual acts—including orgasmic meditation sessions and other sexual encounters—with clients or investors, under the guise of wellness and empowerment. Daedone maintains the practices were consensual and part of voluntary adult choices. Her legal team characterizes the verdict as “criminalizing regret,” and they intend to appeal .

Overall, the practice of expanded orgasm represents a radical shift from its commonly accepted engagement as a sexual energy that is aroused, built-up, and eventually released, to instead an intentional exploration of orgasm as an ever-expanding state of sexual pleasure with it’s release no longer acting as a  goal but rather as a internal form of human created energy that, when properly managed and activated, can be transformed in health and a greater sense of well-being.
